Quick Note: Why Many People Despise Facebook’s #FriendsDay

Surely, you’ve heard of Facebook’s #FriendsDay, where people are getting automatically generated videos of their pictures with friends. You’ve probably seen people mock and make fun of Facebook’s attempt at creating a worldwide celebration of friendship.

I wanted to share with you a quick note about why I think many people despise or even hate it.

What The People At Facebook Missed Out On

First, by making a video of the past moments with friends, Facebook is making an assumption that people will love to see pictures with friends and remember the moments they spent together. That seems obvious: who wouldn’t want to look at pictures of themselves spending a good time with friends?

Here is where they’re missing the point: Many, not all, but many people are dissatisfied with their friendship life.

As they see those pictures, they wish they could have more authentic friends, have a real experience of joy when they meet those friends, and feel deeply connected to them.

And that’s not necessarily what those videos reflect. Instead, they remind people of how they settled for a “by default” social and friendship life.

The sad thing is that most don’t even know how to remedy that situation. Most don’t know what the steps are to get out there and start making friends they actually want to keep. Instead of friends they just stumbled on, and held on to due to a lack of options.

Don’t Let This Be Your Case

I probably don’t have to tell you this, you may already know it. As a subscriber or follower of Get The Friends You Want, you have access to the tools and techniques to create a great social life, on demand.

You have access to what it takes to meet and keep great friends who will make you feel understood, accepted, and appreciated. Those are the friends worth making videos and even compilations of videos about all the great times you would spend together.
